Australian bassist & pop crooner based in Sydney. Alter ego of Ben 'Donny' Waples. Fictional back story : Solo performer. Son of renowned Italian accordionist Antonio Giacomelli Benet, who gained notoriety by recording disco hits from the 1970s. After falling in love with the daughter of an accordion repairman and eloping to Leichhardt, Antonio made Australia his new home. They soon became parents to Donny. Growing up, Donny followed in his father's footsteps, but at the age of 15, he had a change of heart and started playing the Moog synthesizer after realizing that disco accordion was no longer popular. Donny continued to play the accordion for the elderly residents of the Scalabrini Retirement Village, before concentrating on becoming a top performer and, ideally, a television personality. Donny's new phase began in 2009. Donny decided to make his debut album at the renowned DonnyLand Studios due to the seeming lack of interest in disco accordian and jazz bass talents. Equipped with a Drum Machine, Fender Rhodes, and a Moog Synthesizer with an unstoppable pitch bender, Donny has put in a lot of effort to produce albums that should make him the most well-known disco artist of the twenty-first century. Gear: electric bass, Moog, Prophet, sh 1000, jupiter 6, juno 106, dx-7, string synthesizer, fender rhodes, drum programming, hand claps, vocals, spoken word.
